About
Joshua heads-up Classical Revolution NYC, a chamber music organization that runs jam sessions and presentations in cafes and other non-concert venues. He teaches for the music department at Brooklyn College, the Brooklyn Conservatory and the I-School for Music and Art; he can also be seen music directing and accompanying musical theater productions.
As part of his activities with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, Mr. Feltman has embarked on an ambitious project to survey a large part of the orchestral literature of Latin America, particularly Mexico. This research is guided by the faculty at the Graduate Center (where he is pursuing his PhD), particularly celebrated composer Tania Leon and conductor Alondra de la Parra.
Recent commissions include the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra that performed his new work at Symphony Space in 2006, his second New York area orchestral performance. Mr. Feltman is currently working on both an orchestral work and a piano concerto, the latter of which he intends to perform himself. He led Contemporary Music Ensemble at the Graduate Center from 2005-2010 in over 10 performances of important contemporary repertoire, many premieres among them.
